NOIJZU and O:X collaborate for inspiring four-week Balkans Tour [16.07.-07.08.2023]
[Zürich], [10.07.23] - Cutting-edge sound explorers NOIJZU and O:X are embarking on an exciting four-week tour of the fascinating Balkan region. This collaboration will take their performances to vibrant cities including Zagreb, Mostar, Skopje, Sofia, Novi Sad, Budapest and Ljubljana.
Noijzu, an experimental unit based in Switzerland, brings together the musical sensibilities of Miao Zhao and Luis Sanz. Since its formation in 2018, the Chinese-Peruvian duo has dedicated itself to exploring the fusion of acoustic sounds and synthetic sonic entities. Their approach combines the captivating sounds of the bass clarinet with analogue and digital signals. The musical result is an uncompromising blend of extreme acoustic dynamics, intricate textures and a wide range of sonic expressions that can range from minimalism to intensity and confrontation.
O:X, a Swiss-Argentinean duo of Paula Sanchez and Tobias Pfister, will also be part of this musical journey. Their creative vision revolves around the layering of acoustic and electronic elements to create intricate sonic landscapes. Their performances move seamlessly between raw, rhythmic patterns and ethereal shadows, weaving multiple layers that can end abruptly or get lost in otherworldly realms.
An integral aspect of their musical journey is the desire to collaborate with and celebrate the Balkan experimental music scene. Both NOIJZU and O:X value cultural exchange and are delighted to participate in recording sessions and performances with local musicians during their tour. By fostering these collaborations, the bands aim to make meaningful connections, enrich their artistic explorations and showcase the diverse musical expressions of the Balkan underground scene.
"We are delighted to embark on this exciting tour and to share our musical intensities with Balkan audiences," says O:X enthusiastically. "Working closely with local artists, our intention is to weave together diverse musical experiences, embracing and celebrating the vibrant tapestry of Balkan experimental music. We cordially invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey," adds NOIJZU.
